Privacy by design
Your artwork stays under your control.
JENCHA Pixel processes your artwork locally on your Mac and does not upload it to JENCHA. No account is required to use the app.
The app does not use your artwork for analytics or AI training and does not contain advertising trackers.
Our current websites do not use advertising trackers, tracking pixels or website analytics scripts.
1. Who we are
JENCHA Pixel is developed and published by:
JENCHA
The Netherlands
KvK: 42190350
VAT ID: NL005569317B97
Email: hello@jencha.com
This Privacy Policy applies to JENCHA Pixel and the JENCHA websites associated with the product, including pixel.jencha.com and jencha.com.
Where JENCHA determines why and how personal data is processed, JENCHA is responsible for that processing under applicable data-protection law.
2. JENCHA Pixel and your artwork
JENCHA Pixel is designed as a local-first macOS application.
Your artwork, layers, groups, palettes and project information are processed locally on your Mac. JENCHA Pixel does not upload your artwork or .jenchapixel project files to JENCHA.
You choose where to save your projects and exports. The app and macOS may also maintain local recent-file information and temporary, autosave or recovery data as part of normal document handling.
If you copy artwork or a selection, the copied pixel data may be placed on the macOS system clipboard.
If you choose to save or copy files to iCloud Drive, another cloud service, a network drive, backup service or another application, those services may process the files according to their own settings and privacy terms. JENCHA does not control those services.
JENCHA Pixel does not provide JENCHA with remote access to your local project files.
3. Accounts
JENCHA Pixel does not require a JENCHA account.
The app does not create a JENCHA user profile or require you to provide your name or email address in order to create or edit artwork.
An Apple Account may be required by Apple for App Store purchases and subscription management. Your Apple Account is separate from JENCHA.
4. App Store reports and diagnostics
JENCHA Pixel does not contain its own analytics SDK, advertising SDK or third-party crash-reporting service.
Apple may make certain purchase, subscription, app-performance, crash or diagnostic information available to developers through App Store Connect and other Apple developer services.
Some usage and diagnostic information is available only when users have chosen to share that information with app developers, and Apple may apply privacy thresholds or aggregation before information is made available.
If JENCHA uses information made available by Apple, it will be used only where reasonably necessary for purposes such as operating and improving the product, investigating technical problems, supporting users, administering subscriptions and meeting legal or financial obligations.
If you participate in a TestFlight beta, Apple may also make beta feedback and diagnostic information available to JENCHA. Feedback you voluntarily submit may contain text, contact information, screenshots or other information you choose to provide.
5. JENCHA websites
When you visit a JENCHA website, your browser must communicate with the hosting infrastructure in order to deliver the requested pages and files.
Our websites are hosted by mijn.host.
As part of normal web hosting, technical information may be processed, including:
- your IP address;
- date and time of a request;
- requested URL or file;
- browser or user-agent information;
- technical, error and security information.
This information is used for purposes such as delivering and securing the websites, maintaining availability, troubleshooting technical problems, investigating incidents and preventing abuse.
Access, server and security logs may be retained by mijn.host for up to 12 months where necessary for security, incident investigation, abuse prevention, availability and troubleshooting.
6. Cookies, analytics and tracking
The current JENCHA website code does not set cookies.
We currently do not use website analytics scripts, advertising trackers, behavioral advertising or third-party tracking pixels on the JENCHA websites.
The current websites also do not use localStorage, sessionStorage or IndexedDB to create visitor profiles or track visitors.
Normal browser functions such as caching, browser history and downloads are controlled by your browser or device and are not JENCHA visitor-tracking systems.
JENCHA does not use personal data to make automated decisions about users that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
If our use of cookies, analytics or other tracking technologies materially changes, we will update this Privacy Policy and, where required, provide appropriate choices or consent controls.
7. Browser-based tools
Some JENCHA website tools allow you to select artwork or JSON files and enter metadata.
Files and information you deliberately provide to these tools are processed locally in your browser by the current implementation.
The current tools do not upload that artwork or metadata to a JENCHA server.
Generated information may be copied to your system clipboard or downloaded to your device when you explicitly choose those actions.
8. Contact and support
The current JENCHA websites use an email link rather than a server-side contact form.
If you contact JENCHA by email, we may process:
- your email address;
- your name, if you provide it;
- the content of your message;
- screenshots, project files or other attachments you voluntarily send.
We use this information to respond to your request, provide support and maintain any necessary follow-up.
Please only send artwork or project files when they are relevant to your support request.
Support correspondence is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to handle the request, maintain appropriate support records and meet applicable legal or administrative requirements.
9. Service providers, platforms and sharing
JENCHA does not share artwork that remains stored locally on your Mac with its website hosting provider or with Apple simply because you use the JENCHA Pixel editor.
JENCHA relies on certain third-party services and platforms where necessary to operate and distribute JENCHA Pixel, including:
Apple
for App Store distribution, purchases, subscriptions and related developer services.
mijn.host
for website hosting and related hosting infrastructure.
Email service providers
when you contact JENCHA by email.
These organisations process personal data according to the role they perform and their applicable privacy terms.
JENCHA may also disclose personal data where required by law or where reasonably necessary to establish or protect its legal rights or the security of its services.
10. How long we keep personal data
JENCHA does not retain artwork or project files that remain solely on your Mac.
For other information:
- website access, server and security logs may be retained by mijn.host for up to 12 months;
- support communications are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for support, follow-up and applicable legal or administrative obligations;
- App Store purchase and subscription information is primarily maintained through Apple's systems;
- any developer reports, analytics or diagnostics actually retained by JENCHA will be kept only for as long as necessary for their stated purpose.
We will update this section if our services or data flows materially change.
11. Why we process personal data
Where JENCHA processes personal data, the legal basis depends on the purpose of that processing.
Operating and securing our websites
Technical website and security information may be processed where necessary for JENCHA's legitimate interests in operating, securing and maintaining its websites, troubleshooting technical problems and preventing abuse.
Support and communication
When you contact JENCHA, personal data may be processed in order to respond to your request and provide support.
Depending on the circumstances, this processing may be necessary to take steps at your request, to provide a service under a contract, or for JENCHA's legitimate interest in responding to users and providing effective support.
Purchases and subscriptions
Where JENCHA processes information necessary to provide or administer JENCHA Pixel Pro, this may be necessary to provide the purchased service or to meet related legal, accounting or administrative obligations.
App Store purchases themselves are processed by Apple.
Legal obligations and legal rights
JENCHA may process or retain personal data where necessary to comply with a legal obligation or to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.
We do not use website visitor information for behavioral advertising.
12. International processing
JENCHA is based in the Netherlands.
Some third-party platforms or services used in connection with JENCHA Pixel, particularly Apple services, may process information in countries outside the Netherlands or the European Economic Area.
Where JENCHA is responsible for a transfer of personal data outside the European Economic Area, appropriate safeguards will be used where required by applicable data-protection law.
JENCHA Pixel does not upload your artwork to JENCHA or transfer it to an overseas JENCHA artwork-storage service.
If JENCHA later introduces services that materially change how personal data is transferred or processed internationally, this Privacy Policy will be updated.
13. Your privacy rights
Depending on applicable data-protection law and the circumstances, you may have rights concerning personal data that JENCHA holds about you, including rights to:
- request access to your personal data;
- request correction of inaccurate personal data;
- request deletion;
- request restriction of processing;
- object to certain processing;
- receive certain personal data in a portable form where applicable;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on your consent.
You can contact us at hello@jencha.com.
Because artwork and JENCHA Pixel project files are normally stored locally rather than on JENCHA systems, JENCHA generally cannot retrieve, modify or delete local project files on your Mac for you.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant data-protection authority. In the Netherlands, this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
14. External websites and services
The JENCHA websites may contain links to third-party websites or services.
Our current website code does not automatically send the artwork or metadata you use in JENCHA browser-based tools to external link destinations.
When you choose to follow an external link, your browser connects to that third party and its own privacy practices apply.
JENCHA is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites or services.
15. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when JENCHA Pixel, our websites, our service providers or applicable requirements change.
The current version will be published on this page together with its latest update date.
